Welcome to the Mind's Eye Society

The White Wolf fan club formerly known as the Camarilla is in the process of becoming an independent NPO! Midnight Dance is a temporary name while a permanent name is being selected, but we expect to begin full operation under the new management as soon as the final details of the transition plan are worked out with CCP, White Wolf’s parent company.

You’re welcome to get comfortable with our interim Board Members and to take a look at some of the Frequently Asked Questions about the transition, or to explore the site for more information about the club in general. If you haven’t yet, join our mailing lists to keep abreast of what’s going on.

If you’re a potential player interested in joining us, don’t be scared away by the changes.  Take a look at the Prospective Player section of the site, including how to participate on a trial basis even if you’re not ready to purchase a membership just yet.

If you need it, here’s the contact information for the NPO.

Gen Con Indy 2012

Good Afternoon!

Gen Con Indy 2012 – August 16-19

Gen Con Indy is the original, longest running, best attended, gaming convention in the world. For over 44 years, Gen Con Indy has been setting the trend and breaking records. Last year, more than 120,103 turnstile and 36,106 unique attendees experienced Gen Con Indy. The biggest complaint we hear is that there is simply too much to do, see, and experience. Get lost in a phantasm of art exhibits. Stare at jaw-dropping costumes, or better yet, wear one of your own. Meet the movers and the shakers in the gaming industry. Check out the newest games and get a sneak peek at the latest editions.

And, of course, play your heart out with fellow enthusiasts in a community that understands your passion. What you’ll experience at Gen Con Indy is nothing short of IT. You know, whatever “It” is for you? This is IT! Get ready to get there.

Mind’s Eye Society needs your help to make one of our biggest recruitment events of the season a success.

We need:

  • Storytellers – We will be running Masquerade, Requiem, Mage, & Changeling
  • Actors – this year we will be doing something a little differently than we have in the past. This year we are going to perform pseudo scripted break out scenes throughout the duration of the event in the public eye to draw attention to the org.
  • Recruitment – We will have a table for recruitment purposes. I need charismatic outgoing members to sit at the table and talk with potential members.

Please send all applications to Kristi Davis (tsm@mindseyesociety.org) and to Matthew Cotterill (camarillacub@gmail.com) All applications must include: Your Name, membership number, all Cam/MES experience, any applicable real world experience, and any DA’s received within the last year.

Thank You,

First Quarter Summary (repost)

As part of the Board of Directors’ ongoing efforts to make the organization
more transparent, the Board has released a summary of its activities for
the first quarter, found here:

http://www.mindseyesociety.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/MES-Quarterly-Summary-2012-1st.pdf

It is the hope of the Board that this move toward greater transparency will
encourage greater participation in the Mind’s Eye Society by its membership
and answer questions raised about the transition from the old organization
to the new. It is collectively the membership’s club now, and this is just
one way we hope that the membership comes to understand this wonderful fact.

Sincerely,
Kwei-Cee Chu

Transition (pre-new MH) FAQ (repost)

All,

The Transition FAQ for the time period before the new membership handbook
has been posted. We are using the documents approved by the membership
(Bylaws, Constitution), with the old Membership Handbook and this covers
the few gaps that we’ve found so far, before the new Membership Handbook is
accepted.

All Call: Web Designer and Content Manager

Now that we have a club name, logo, and all that goodness, it’s time to mature our web presence as well. To that end, we’re expanding the tech team by two: One head to handle graphic design for the main web site, and one head to assemble content and keep it fresh. The two positions do require very different skillsets, so please be sure to look at each individual job description, and apply for what you’d be best for. And be sure to read the instructions to submit your application, as messing that up will affect your chances.

WEB DESIGNER

This is a creative and graphical position which can be a formal unpaid internship upon request. You will be responsible for the general look and feel of the web site, incorporating graphics, backgrounds, and other cool-looking stuff. Your focus is on making the main web site as attractive and easy to use as possible, both for prospects and existing members. You may also be asked to assist with other web properties, such as the web portal. The ideal applicant will have the following skills:

  • Very strong graphic design skills as applied to web design
  • Knowledge of WordPress templates and basic administration (though we have a full time WordPress admin to handle things under the hood)
  • A portfolio of existing sites that you have designed
  • Sufficient availability that minor updates can be completed within a week

Applications should be sent to cam.global.tech@gmail.com and include
your professional resume, links or images for sites that you have
designed, and anything else you think would be useful for us to know.
And please put “Web Designer” in the subject line.

CONTENT MANAGER

This position has a combination of administrative and creative duties, where you will gather information from a variety of officers, phrase and format for the web site, and ensure that the web site is regularly refreshed with new content. Your focus is on making sure that information from a variety of places is added to the site, as well as pestering officers as necessary when content needs to be produced by their offices. The ideal applicant will have the following skills:

  • Strong writing skills to make information easy accessible to the reader
  • Very high availability to allow for posting content to the site within 48 hours under normal conditions
  • Good communication skills, including the ability to pester someone without being annoying
  • Highly organized, managing multiple open tasks at any given time without losing track of any of them

Applications should be sent to cam.global.tech@gmail.com and include a summary of your skillset, any relevant experience within or outside of the club, and anything else you think would be useful for us to know. The skill with which you organize the information in your resume will be considered as a qualifying skill. And please put “Content Manager” in the subject line.

Origins Needs You!

Good Afternoon (once again)

If you are planning on attending Origins this year (which I hope you are) we are still in dire need of volunteers.

- Narrators: We are in need of narrators for Changeling, Mage, Requiem, & Masquerade

- Recruitment Team: I need charismatic, well informed members to man our table in the convention space. We will be in the most highly trafficked area of the event. (I should note, that we will be seated less than 50 feet away from Wil Wheaton and Felicia Day throughout the entirety of the event.)

- Follow Up Team: You don’t even have to attend the event to help out! We will be needing people with reliable internet access following the event to open correspondences with new members.

- MC 1 Character Generators: We are still in need of MC 1 characters for all of the venues! Keep them coming.

Remember any participation in this event will be worth NATIONAL PRESTIGE! Lend a hand to make this event amazing. :) If you want to help out shoot me an e-mail at TSM@mindseyesociety.org
