A figurative Sword of Damocles hung over Sarah as she walked toward the entrance to the club. Dark clouds rolling in from the mountains nearby only served as a portent for the evil that was to be done this night. Whether it be her head, or that of the man she had come to bargain with, only the fates would decide, and that very thought ate at her soul, or whatever was left of it.
The thrumming bass welcomed her like an old friend – one that had corrupted her youth, stolen her innocence, and left her without so much as a dime to pay for the cab home the next day. Yet here she was again, meeting with Michael, the stranger, and perhaps the only salvation she might know.
“Good evening,” the dark man growled; his teeth were chalky white, stained with yellow halos. She nodded at him in return. “Do you have it?” he asked, pointedly. Again, Sarah nodded, suddenly a feeling of dread pulling at her. “Good,” he muttered. “I would hate this to have been a waste of my time.”
“Alright!” the storyteller called, “Maria and James, I need both of you to hold for a moment!” Maria paused her play of Sarah, and James did as well. “Maria, James’ character has a physical test for your character.” Maria shook her head realizing that her character had been lured into a trap. She looked at the storyteller and reminded him of her character’s supernatural awareness. James, looked shocked realized the truth: he had been deceived as well. “Okay, folks, let’s play this out”. The storyteller smiled, seeing how the players had each prepared for the other character’s demise.
